What is the Metaverse?
Metaverse is a virtual world that incorporates augmented reality, virtual reality, 3D holographic avatars and video. It’s a place where you can communicate with other users, shop and play games without having to log in.
The idea of the metaverse has been around since the 1990s, when science fiction writer Neal Stephenson envisioned lifelike avatars in realistic 3D buildings and other virtual spaces. As the concept has grown, a number of different projects have been launched on the road to creating a true metaverse.
Using crypto
The most interesting development in the space is the use of cryptocurrency for digital real estate, and the creation of non-fungible tokens (NFTs). Instead of traditional currency, NFTs give their owners a kind of digital deed or proof of ownership that can be used to trade, buy and sell items within a metaverse environment.
Game
There are many great virtual reality and augmented reality games being developed for the metaverse. These include the likes of Batman VR, Resident village, and others.
Facebook and Microsoft are also putting their money where their mouth is on the topic of the metaverse, as both have invested heavily in a number of companies that are building out their own virtual worlds.
As the technology behind the metaverse continues to improve, it is only natural that more and more people will become interested in investing in the space. Some are choosing to invest in crypto through ICOs, while others are investing directly into publicly traded companies that are building the future of the internet as we know it.
