Decentraland and the Metaverse
Decentraland is a decentralized online game platform and community that has made the game one of the most popular in the market. Its game is based on the NFT model, and the player earns Axie Infinity Shards by breeding Axies, playing matches, and winning tournaments. Metaverse players can monetize their time spent in the game by staking their Axie Infinity Shards.
Microsoft is working to create its own version of the metaverse, and users of Teams will be able to visit virtual spaces as early as 2022. While the company has not yet commented on the matter, many cryptocurrency enthusiasts are worried that a big tech company will dominate the metaverse and use it to promote its own products. But Microsoft did not respond to an Insider request for comment. Regardless of what role Meta plays, there is a need for more information before it’s possible to make an informed decision about the future of the crypto space.
Microsoft, NVIDIA, and Epic Games have all announced plans to explore the metaverse. VISA has even invested in the game by purchasing the first NFT for $150,000. Popular brands are also involved in the metaverse, including Gucci and Coca-Cola, which have partnered with the online game creation system Roblox to sell digital accessories. They’ve also released a video game called NBA Top Shot, which is available in the Metaverse.
