Making the Most of the Metaverse
Metaverse is a new world where virtual reality headsets and advanced computer platforms merge together. Mark Zuckerberg and others have dubbed it the next iteration of digital technology.
The metaverse is the next era of computing and networking–succeeding mainframes, personal computers and the Internet. It is based on advanced technologies like VR and augmented reality.
It will offer new experiences to users, such as social media and shopping in a 3-D virtual world. These experiences will be immersive and more realistic than what is possible with current technology.
A major part of the Metaverse will be non-fungible tokens (NFTs), which are secure digital assets based on blockchain. They can be used to buy or sell virtual objects, music, art and real estate.
The Metaverse will also require infrastructure to support it. This includes hardware devices, such as virtual reality headsets and augmented reality glasses, along with back-end engines that create and distribute content.
To make the most of the Metaverse, it’s important to understand the technical details and be strategic about how to utilise it. Start by educating yourself and your teams, and be sure to pass that knowledge on.
You’ll need to find the right people with the expertise you need. This might include innovation teams that have been developing AR and VR for years, or rising leaders with crypto-native experience.
The most successful businesses will be able to create value through the Metaverse and be a partner in its development. That means collaborating with other companies, both inside and outside your industry.
