The Metaverse is a virtual world focused on connecting people and technology. Like real estate, value increases with proximity to the center. Celebrities have already invested in the metaverse, attracting fans to their virtual world. Similarly, the real estate business will continue in the virtual world, as will many of the processes that are used in the physical world. To prepare for the Metaverse, small businesses must determine their niche and determine the best technologies to use to promote their business.
Blockchain-based apps make it possible for users to own virtual land. Metaverse gaming apps allow gamers to earn virtual currency by playing virtual games. Popular metaverses include Decentraland, Axie Infinity, and SecondLive, all of which are built on the Ethereum blockchain. Axies, the non-fungible tokens that power these platforms, allow users to own virtual land in the metaverse. Axies are constructed from over 500 body parts and can breed up to seven times. Offspring are sold on gaming platforms.
As for the tech behind metaverses, Microsoft has announced plans to create its own metaverse. Teams users will be able to visit these virtual spaces in 2022. Microsoft is also implementing blockchain technology in order to ensure the security and integrity of the network. The metaverse could be a combination of software, hardware, data centers, and blockchain technology. For businesses, this is a win-win scenario. As long as companies like Apple and Facebook are investing in these new technologies, the market is sure to be huge in the near future.
