Facebook and the Metaverse

The concept of the Metaverse has been in the works for a long time. Neal Stephenson’s 1992 novel Snow Crash described a digital space that is shared by all of its users. In his metaverse, you can create avatars to interact with others and hang out.
There are several companies working to develop the Metaverse. Among them, video game developers, such as Epic Games and Roblox, have outlined their vision.
Facebook is investing $150 million in training creators of the Metaverse educational systems. Meanwhile, Boeing plans to build a digital environment for its employees to collaborate. This space will be accessed by using VR headsets.
Some of the most popular metaverses on the market today include SecondLive, Axie Infinity, and Decentraland. These platforms allow players to build their own virtual worlds, monetize the experience, and even sell or buy virtual property.
But how do these platforms work? NFTs and cryptography are a big part of the Metaverse.
NFTs are cryptographic tokens that are used to pay for services and to distribute the revenue generated by a platform. They’re also critical to the success of the Metaverse.
Axie Infinity Shards are gained by participating in tournaments, breeding Axies, or voting on community treasury funds.
