Blockchain technology will encourage individuals to create their own Metaverse, but centralized actors may still muscle in. In this scenario, the Metaverse war could be between ecosystems, instead of between companies. This is a concern for crypto enthusiasts who are worried that big tech companies are going to control the virtual world and make it similar to an app store.
The Metaverse will require permissionless identity and high-speed exchange. Data will need to be stored and served for billions of people, so people in the metaverse will want to trade and sell their digital items. This is where cryptocurrency comes in. The cryptocurrency will allow these people to connect to each other in the virtual world. This can be used for all kinds of transactions, including payment and entertainment. The future of the Internet depends on it, and cryptocurrency will play a key role in this.
