Animoca Brands and Facebook Investing in the Metaverse

A new virtual world is emerging: the Metaverse. It is a hybrid of hardware and software, data centers, and blockchain technology. Metaverse is an exciting new way to experience virtual worlds, and its CEO announced plans to create his own metaverse. He also announced first user experiences for Horizon Home and Venues. As the metaverse continues to develop, he hopes to make working from home an industry trend in the virtual world. In his presentation, he also outlined how his company plans to utilize blockchain technology to create a seamless virtual environment.

Animoca Brands CEO Yung explains that the name change is aimed at fostering the cultural adoption of the virtual world. The company, which has hosted the Metaverse since 2012, has been working with a number of major players in the gaming industry. Other major investors include Mark Zuckerberg and Robby Yung of Animoca Brands, which owns The Sandbox, CryptoKitties, and NBA Top Shot creator Dapper Labs.

Facebook’s co-founder Mark Zuckerberg recently referred to the concept of the metaverse in a company call. He compared Facebook to the Matrix and vowed to build the next “big thing.” In an effort to promote the concept of the metaverse, the company rebranded as Meta Platforms. Although the company is only recently using the phrase “metaverse”, it is already investing heavily in virtual reality. However, it is still unclear how much Zuckerberg will invest in it.
