The Future of the Metaverse
The Metaverse is a new virtual reality system that uses a computer game engine to allow its users to experience a digital world. It allows users to create and own their own personal space, allowing them to communicate and act in a variety of ways. They can also own and sell virtual property, which is often in the form of non-fungible tokens. The Metaverse is a relatively new concept, but it is already being used in a variety of applications, from shopping and gaming to leisure and entertainment.
The Metaverse’s future depends on incentivization. This will enable a community-built environment where individuals can earn a living by creating and consuming digital assets. The underlying crypto-asset protocols will enable the community to build its own Metaverse, but companies can still influence its evolution. Facebook, for example, sees the Metaverse as the next evolution of social networking and has said that it aims to become a metaverse company in the future.
Adoption is another key factor to the success of Metaverse. To date, the game has been hosted by Zoom. Robby Yung, CEO of Animoca Brands, which is the parent company of NBA Top Shot creator Dapper Labs, has invested in The Sandbox. He has not yet decided on the future of the Metaverse, but he’s confident about its potential. If it succeeds, he believes it will become the foundation of the metaverse’s economy.
