The Metaverse and Facebook’s Zuckerberg Funding
Among the first metaverse projects to receive funding was Etheria, a decentralized virtual world. The game was built on the Ethereum blockchain and allowed players to own tiles, blocks and other pieces of real estate.
Another popular Metaverse is Axie Infinity, a play to earn game that has been built on the Ethereum blockchain. Players can win prizes and stake community treasury funds by breeding Axies and engaging in matches.
In addition to playing Axie Infinity, users can also buy “bloks” of real estate. These bloks can be purchased with BLOK currency. These bloks can be rented or sold, and players can buy or sell their offspring.
These bloks of real estate are decorated with NFTs, or non-fungible tokens. These tokens are unique and allow for the transparency of transactions on the blockchain. In turn, they allow for the distribution of revenue earned by the platform.
Some of the most popular Metaverses today are SecondLive, Decentraland, The Sandbox, and Axie Infinity. All of these projects have made significant gains since their announcements.
The company has already built a community, and is now marketing their products to bigger firms. It is important to watch these companies closely and understand what they are doing to build a sustainable Metaverse.
Currently, the metaverse is mostly composed of videogames. It is facilitated by virtual reality headsets, such as the Microsoft Hololens.
With the development of technology, the metaverse may take several years to mature. Ultimately, it will offer new ways of working over the web. The goal of the metaverse is to offer a more immersive experience than the physical world.
